The Sacramento Chapter of the American Payroll Association has chosen to support Women's Empowerment and Sacramento Loaves & Fishes for our charitable outreach.
Women's Empowerment is a non-profit organization that helps homeless women get back on their feet through an eight week program. The program offers training, support, and mentoring to enable participants to obtain and maintain long term employment and housing.
In 2008, our chapter developed a class to offer training on payroll forms and payroll taxes as well as to explain to the participants what they can and cannot be asked in a job interview. Our presentation was such a success that we were invited back to participate in the program on an ongoing basis.
Women's Empowerment always has a need for professional clothing and shoes to give to the women to assist them in getting back into the workforce. If you have any professional clothing or shoes that you are willing to donate please bring them to the Sacramento APA Chapter Meetings.
For more information on Women's Empowerment go to www.womens-empowerment.org
Women's Empowerment started as an affiliate of the Sacramento Loaves & Fishes. Loaves & Fishes is an organization which provides for the homeless in many ways, for example by providing nutritious meals. They can always use hotel size soaps, lotions, toothpaste, and toothbrushes, so if you are traveling, please pick up the unused hotel size toiletries to donate to Loaves & Fishes. Also, many dentists provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss; if you aren't planning on using these items, they would make a welcome donation. Donations may be brought to the Sacramento APA Chapter Meetings.
